I’m Jess.
I’m Jess, the designer behind Studio42. Based in Kansas City with over 20 years of experience, I create bold, thoughtful design for brands that want something a little different. From logos and apparel to packaging and everything in between, I love making good ideas come to life.

I’ve always been drawn to things with character. Skate and surf culture, tattoo art, vintage finds, old books and great typography. Living on both coasts gave me a mix of influences that still find their way into my work today.
I’m a big fan of thrifting, unexpected color combinations and the little details that make something memorable. I love working with good people, getting to know their brands and creating something that feels uniquely theirs.

Making Noise.
Before Studio42, I spent 14 years as an art director in the screen printing industry, learning the ins and outs of design and production.
That hands-on experience means I think beyond how something looks on screen. I know how it’s made, how it’s printed and how to make sure the final product looks just as good as the original idea.
